SSW Visa 2025: What Changed and What You Need to Prepare

Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) pathways continue to evolve. Candidates from Nepal should not rely on last year’s checklist here is what we are telling workers in 2025.
Industry scope
has expanded in practice as employers recruit across care, agriculture, food service, construction, and related sectors. Each sector still has its own skills test and documentation pattern. Confirm your target industry before you book exams.
Language expectations
remain anchored around conversational Japanese, with JLPT N4 commonly used as proof. Spoken confidence matters as much as the certificate employers increasingly run short interviews even when tests are complete.
Documentation
must show verified work history, training certificates, and medical checks aligned with the sending route you use. Inconsistent job titles between CV, experience letters, and test registration cause delays.
Employer matching
is not automatic. Strong candidates prepare sector vocabulary, understand basic contract terms, and can explain why they chose Japan over other destinations.
Preparation plan we recommend:
month 1–2 language foundation, month 3 sector test registration, month 4 document bundle and mock interviews, month 5 employer introductions where available. Adjust if you already have partial N4 skills.
