I Got a MEXT Scholarship Here is My Exact Application Timeline

MEXT felt overwhelming until I broke it into months. This is my real timeline from Nawalpur to Tokyo yours may shift by intake, but the sequence helped me stay calm.
Month 1 (October): Research and fit.
I listed research areas, professors, and universities with English or Japanese programs I could realistically join. Achievers Education helped me compare embassy-recommended vs university-recommended tracks.
Month 2 (November): Documents and study plan.
Transcripts, recommendation letters, passport scan, and a draft research proposal. I revised the proposal three times with feedback specific beats impressive.
Month 3 (December): Embassy application window.
Submitted to the Japanese embassy in Nepal with the official checklist. Every attachment labeled; nothing loose in a folder.
Month 4 (January): First screening.
Waiting was hard. I continued Japanese study daily so an interview would not catch me cold.
Month 5 (February): Interview and medical.
Short embassy interview about motivation and proposal. Medical exam scheduled immediately after shortlist notice.
Month 6 (March): Results and placement.
Received preliminary acceptance, then university placement information. Started pre-departure Japanese course online.
Month 7–8 (April–May): Visa and logistics.
COE, visa application, flight, housing coordination with the university dorm office.
Arrival (September):
Orientation in Tokyo, residence card, bank account, city registration completed in the first ten days with a senior student buddy.
